The source code to Legacy Worlds Beta 5 has been released. For more information, please check out the relevant post on the Legacy Worlds development blog.
Quite a few years have passed since Beta 5 was launched. Well, it is time to end it. On March the 5th, the game will be shut down permanently.
The full source code to the game will be made available some time after that - it needs to be sanitised first, I'm rather sure it contains quite a few rude comments, amongst other things. This includes:
Hi all,
First beta test of 'GP Manager' (a.k.a. GPML) is online now.
Main focus for this beta is User interface (please comment on any confusing elements), errors & bugs (including typo's) and game balancing (particularly each components effect over speed and relative reliability).
The app can be found at: http://apps.facebook.com/gpmanagerlite/
Forums can be found at: http://gpmanager.proboards.com/index.cgi <- Please report bugs/UI/balancing issues here, there is also a link in the game to this forum.
Thanks in advance
After quite a few mishaps, and a lot of real-life related delay, I am happy to announce that the first milestone to Beta 6 is finally ready. The release can be found at http://b6m.legacyworlds.com ; it is open for registration as of now. The game itself will start on July, the 15th.
Hey guys.
It would appear that the schedule I gave for milestones was a bit too enthusiastic.
As you know, LWB6 is a complete rewrite of the game. In a different language. And therefore, using different libraries, some of them chosen completely at “random” (that is, based purely on API cleanliness).
Two weeks ago I noticed that, despite the fact that everything I had actually worked, I was having major performance problems. This prompted a rewrite of 75% of the code I already had.
It is here.
IT IS HERE!!!
That's right, there is finally a Deep Clone Development website that we can be proud of. Thanks mostly to the fine developers at drupal.org, we bring you a lovely CMS for all Deep Clone project, news and community activites.
In GPMP you can play standard games, private games & matches. So taking advantage of this, I've created a new match that will last about 45 days. This match however is merely a test of the new code that will go into standard game 9. This new code features a lot of game and balancing enhancements as detailed below:
Chassis development
Beta 5 is quite dead at this point: only 26 players are left, and some of them are actually "immortal" administrative accounts which never get closed even if they are completely inactive. I could, of course, completely close the game and park the domain; however, I still use the server for many things, and keeping Beta 5 online is not much of a burden. I could start a new round, but that would probably not change anything. For now I am leaning towards letting it die peacefully.
